Sovereign Futures Leadership Society

Overview

Na’ah Illahee Fund’s Sovereign Futures Leadership Society is a growing ecosystem of Indigenous leaders and knowledge keepers who are advancing innovative solutions grounded in Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), climate resilience, and cultural preservation.

The Sovereign Futures Cohort is a six-month collective learning experience for Indigenous stewards, protectors, and caretakers who are working to build regenerative economies within their communities.

This program blends Indigenous philosophies, land-based knowledge, and decolonized approaches to leadership. Cohort members meet to learn together, strengthen networks, and develop community projects—supported by guest facilitators who share expertise in renewable energy, clean water systems, food sovereignty, landback, green infrastructure, and more.

Participants receive resources to support their learning and project development through stipends and seed grants. Previous cohorts have launched initiatives such as community gardens, traditional foods education, renewable energy projects, water catchment systems, and green infrastructure planning for community facilities.

Open to Indigenous people across NIF’s service region, Sovereign Futures nurtures an intergenerational network of leaders advancing climate resilience and just transitions rooted in Indigenous knowledge and responsibility.
