Did you know that Washington State Parks are free on Earth Day 2023? This along with a generous amount of educational, activities and entertainment are scheduled for Saturday, April 22.
We’ve compiled an exhaustive list for you to peruse, including events in much of our service area: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and B.C.
Earth Deserves More Than a Day
April 17-21, 2023 – Columbia City Theater, Seattle
In celebration of Earth Day, Rainier Avenue Radio will be hosting a week-long event at the historic Columbia City Theater from Apr. 17 to Apr. 21. Joined with Front and Centered and the Social Justice Film Institute, the event, “Earth Deserves More Than a Day,” will include radio interviews, “kitchen table” conversations, panel discussions, film screenings, and a multimedia exhibit.

Washington State Parks Free Earth Day

Normally, it costs about $12 for a one-day parks pass (or $30 for an annual pass) but for a few days every year the parking is free – April 22 — Earth Day — The closest one is Saint Edward State Park, as well as Bridle Trails in Kirkland. Park access is free every day for people who do not drive.

West Duwamish Greenbelt Stories Hike

Join Southwest Seattle Historical Society and West Duwamish Greenbelt Trails Group for a guided hike followed by an oral history panel program highlighting the tribal, residential, industrial, political and ecological history of Seattle’s largest contiguous forest.
Both hikes depart from the Duwamish Longhouse:

Once You Know: Special Earth Day Screening with Alliance Française de Seattle

Show up for Mother Earth at this screening of Emmanuel Cappellin’s 2020 documentary Once You Know, which tracks his voyage across the planet to engage with climate change-fighting scientists and grassroots activists. Earth Day Restoration Event @ Fenster Nature Park!

Join Mid Sound Fisheries, Green River Coalition, the City of Auburn, and your community members as we celebrate Earth Day by restoring the shores of the Green-Duwamish River at Fenster Park! We will be removing invasive blackberry from the shores of the Green River to clear up space to plant trees in the future! Trees are beneficial to us because they provide oxygen and forests for us to spend time in, but trees also help keep rivers clean, clear, and cold- all qualities that salmon need to be healthy.

Earth Day – ETAP at Golden Gardens

Looking for a way to celebrate Earth Day? Join Puget Soundkeeper for our Earth Day Cleanup at Golden Gardens! This cleanup will take place in two, two-hour shifts..
We will use the ETAP protocol (Escaped Trash Assessment Protocol) at this event. It compares trends in trash that escapes waste management systems and ends up on our beaches and in our waterways. It is a simple, but meticulous, collection of all human-created debris within a defined area, which are then categorized, counted and weighed.

Idaho Falls Earth Day Week-long Celebration 2023

Idaho Falls Earth Week will be both in-person activities at the zoo and a virtual event. There are several fun ways to participate.
Visit the Idaho Falls Zoo on Saturday, April 29th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Children ages 0-12 can get into the zoo for free with a paid adult admission AND a canned food donation. This year adult admission will be half-price during the Idaho Falls Earth Day Celebration only.
